In contemporary society, as the life and work pressures of women of childbearing age increase, the incidence of ectopic pregnancies is also rising. Women who exhibit pregnancy symptoms may suspect the possibility of ectopic pregnancies. How can one rule out ectopic pregnancies? Ectopic pregnancies cannot be solely ruled out by biochemical indicators; it is more important to perform ultrasound examinations. If an adnexal mass is observed on ultrasound with no gestational sac in the uterus, a high suspicion of ectopic pregnancy should be raised.

Below, the editor will specifically introduce the methods of excluding ectopic pregnancy and the relevant biochemical indicator data.

The most effective method to rule out an ectopic pregnancy is a B-ultrasound examination.

Upon discovering pregnancy, vaginal bleeding or abdominal pain may occur. To determine if the fetus is located within the uterine cavity for intrauterine pregnancy, a B-ultrasound examination is required to differentiate it from an extrauterine pregnancy.

To exclude a ectopic pregnancy, an ultrasound is required. If the gestational sac is found within the uterus, it indicates a normal pregnancy and not an ectopic one.

However, a limitation of ultrasound examination is that it may not be able to detect pregnancy at an early stage due to the short duration. It is typically recommended to undergo an ultrasound scan at around 45 days post-fertilization to determine if the gestation is normal or an ectopic pregnancy.

If there have been no other discomforts before, we can wait for a while and then proceed with the ultrasound to determine the location of the gestational sac. This will help rule out ectopic pregnancy.

HCG Levels to Exclude Ectopic Pregnancy: Early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy is mainly based on the detection of serum hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin).

Normally developed villi secrete a large amount of hCG, which increases rapidly with each 48-hour period. Each 48 hours the titer is increased by more than 66%.

If the increase in hCG every two days is greater than 66%, it can be diagnosed as intrauterine pregnancy.

If the increase in quantity is less than 66%, there is a high possibility of ectopic pregnancy or poor development of intrauterine pregnancy.

For ectopic pregnancy, due to the thin muscular layer of the fallopian tubes and poor blood supply, the secretion of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is very low.

The daily appreciation is minimal.

48 hours to rise less than 50%.

HCG is a specific hormone secreted during pregnancy, making it useful for the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancies. An increase in HCG levels less than 66% indicates a potential risk of ectopic pregnancy and should prompt attention.

How much progesterone can exclude an ectopic pregnancy? Generally, a progesterone level higher than 20 ng/mL can exclude an ectopic pregnancy.

However, a pregnancy hormone test alone cannot be used to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

This indicator merely provides an indirect judgment. In early pregnancy, B-ultrasound cannot provide accurate detection, so we can use progesterone testing to exclude ectopic pregnancies. If the progesterone level is below 20 ng/ml, it should raise our concern. We should wait a week or two before going to the hospital for an ultrasound check. If a gestational sac is seen within the uterus but no obvious fluid-filled mass outside the uterus, then there is no possibility of ectopic pregnancy.

Pregnancy can be ruled out for an ectopic pregnancy if there are any abnormal symptoms, such as vaginal bleeding or lower abdominal pain around the sixth to eighth week of pregnancy. These are early signs of ectopic pregnancy.

If no such signs are present within 6 to 8 weeks, the pregnancy can be considered normal.

A transvaginal ultrasound can be performed around 45 to 60 days post-menstruation. If the gestational sac is located within the uterine cavity, it can rule out the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy.

At this time, the pregnant mother can relax and maintain a positive and healthy mindset. Pay attention to her diet, ensure proper nutrition, and adhere to scheduled prenatal examinations.
